The Oscars Fashion: Best and Worst Dressed

Hugh Jackman hosted the 81st Academy Awards

The 81st Academy Awards was a rather pleasant spectacle last night with show host Hugh Jackman bringing much-needed sexyness and fresh comedy to the evening’s awards ceremony. As one online viewer commented, the theatrical showbiz number featuring Hugh in top hat and tails “was the worst advertisement for Wolverine ever.” We totally agree but we must also confess that we love it when Hollywood goes over-the-top: makes for lots of sparkle and buzz.

The Jojos hit the red carpet

The Fashion in Motion writers, Johanne and Jordana, are reviewing the red carpet parade from last night’s awards ceremony. Here’s the lowdown about the best and the worst dressed, and those that we’re lovingly classifying “debatable.”

BEST DRESSED: Taraji P Henson

Johanne: The soft layers of cream and light peach give this Roberto Cavalli dress a dreamy softness that balances the overall hourglass shaping. The Fred Leighton 19th century diamond necklace is a stunning complimentary accessory to this look. Taraji was lovely in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and I adore her red carpet style.

Jordana: I agree – I adore her red carpet style. I think she’s one to keep an eye on. She always wows us with her fashion choices. She wears an interesting Cavalli design in a colour that flatters her complexion. The diamonds are beautiful and anything but boring. She keeps her hair and makeup simple yet dramatic. Taraji has a wining look once again.
