New York: The Fashion Center Sidewalk-Catwalk

August 30, 2010

Art and fashion come together in New York City’s fashion district for Sidewalk Catwalk. This public art event celebrates fashion and design and features the creations of some of the top fashion designers. I saw the 32 one-of-a-kind mannequins strutting the runway (read: Broadway) last week and if you’re in the Big Apple, you can too. You’ll have to hurry though as the event ends on September 3rd. You can read more about this free exhibit and about all the designers’ creations here.

It was really great to see these creations in person but the photos online are great too. I’m amazed at the creativity of some of these designers. And some of the dresses are so very practical – isn’t Jason Wu’s dress gorgeous?

Amazing! Thank you so much for these photos.

I love Elie Tahari’s mixed materials dress and of course the first-Lady’s dressmaker of choice, Jason Wu. I’m also intrigued by Christopher Ciaccia & Ariel Penzer’s gown- very NYC!
