Winter Fashion: Dressing for the Cold

December 27, 2010

The cold weather has hit and this holiday some of us may be wondering about how to stay cozy, comfortable and stylish when we’re not mingling and making toasts at holiday parties.

I haven’t actually done any research on this but I would estimate that about 80% of the under-20 crowd where I live wear something like this to stay hip and warm:

Wardrobe staples: t-shirt, leggings, plaid shirt, pearl earrings, Tiffany key charm, Silly Bandz elastic bracelets, earmuffs, Coach wallet, Longchamp bag, Canada Goose jacket, UGG boots

The rest of us might want to try one of these looks to stay warm and chic:

Black beauty: Uniqlo cardigan, Lanvin pants, turtleneck, leopard print hat & gloves, booties, Uniqlo coat, scarf, hoop earrings, double knuckle ring, Crate & Barrel tote

Shades of brown: Belted wrap cardigan, J Brand jeans, white top, Michael Kors boots, fur collar jacket, Alexander McQueen tote, trapper hat, driving gloves, double bangles & necklace

Festive in red: cardigan, 7 for All Mankind jeans, white t-shirt, bow earrings, UGG boots, scarf, Kate Spade wallet, Longchamp purse, Canada Goose coat, knee socks

What do you think? What are your cold-weather wardrobe staples?

I live in Orlando, FL and I usually don’t invest in a lot of winter pieces, since normally our winters are warm. But, if I did splurge on winter clothing, I would buy every single piece in the 2nd and 3rd sets. Great styling!

Ah – Florida! Do you even need coats in the winter? You make me jealous! I sometimes forget that some of our readers don’t need to worry about real cold weather dressing. Glad you liked the styling though…might come in handy for a snowy winter vacation one day? Here…I barely go a day without wearing my UGG boots and a scarf and mittens are must-have accessories where I live!
      Thanks for your comment Natasha!
