Leggings forever

July 26, 2011

The Nylon Tricot legging by American Apparel remains one of the best in the biz. $40 at AA

We’ve already seen more leggings on this side of the new millenium than we did the first time they showed up on the scene when Like A Virgin and Girls Just Wanna To Have Fun were blasting on ghetto blasters.

While we’ve been quietly sweating it out this summer, the legging has been waiting at the back of the dresser until cooler weather rolls around late-September. Did you really think that just because wide-leg high-waist denim is here this summer that come fall, the legging would be forgotten? Silly- leggings are here for a few more seasons. Women who wear them simply won’t have it any other way.

Some of us prefer to keep them indoors year-round in the privacy of our home, but either way, the rainbow of delightful colours (and neons!) at American Apparel is a candy shop of happiness for the legging-loving gal. And at $40 a pop, they’re a safe bet in whatever you choose. We’re shopping the staple black end of the rack but can’t help covet those nudes and pinks for special nights, like when The Bachelor is on.

I like this, Leggings to coordinate with your favourite TV. So red for True Blood, green for Breaking Bad and the neon green for Strange Addictions.

Yes, it’s a way to keep us going with the leggings trend. I’m having a hard time wearing them outside of the house- anyone else feeling vulnerable in leggings?
