Sac du jour

September 29, 2011

Going native and snaky in one fine swoop. Beaded clutch, $27.80 at Forever 21

Today on Sac du jour we’re taking a field trip with the native trend this season.

We feel that the quasi-Aztec-inspired take on prints is a perfect fit with our current hippy phase and, in fact, is quite possibly the missing ingredient to our boho suede-fringed granola moment. Needless to add that we’re also digging the general flooding of similarly-minded mukluks and moccasins (feature post to come).

Limited edition Mukluks by Annie McKay for Manitobah: a gal can dream. $799 at Manitobah

Our prime piece for our Sac feature today is a beaded clutch from fast-food equivalent Forever 21 (pictured, top). As if you weren’t loving the loose reference to snakeskin in this print, at twenty-seven dollars and eighty cents it practically begs a night out. Do we really need to point out that a native trend practically signifies beads, and really- a little beady glitz never hurt anyone.

More picks from the happy bunch (non-beady, and so, not as fun):

Fabric with leather trim Emilia bag, $128 at Fossil

Native stitch tote, $29.80 at Forever 21

Foldover bag, $39.98 on sale at Aldo

I’m definitely on the other end of the spectrum when it comes to hippie wear. But…I think I could totally embrace the beaded clutch from Forever 21. A little turquoise might just do me some good!

Definitely some good :). Hippy is easy: throw in some suede, a vest and a large hobo bag and you’re there.
