Vogue Italia went over the top

March 13, 2012

The Haute Mess spread in Vogue Italia is a really sleazy thing. What were they thinking?

The shoot: Vogue Italia‘s March 2012 editorial spread.

The set: A scudsy diner and grocery store that seem to be American- or is it a dine-in grocery store? We are also treated to a washroom set.

The photographer: Steven Meisel

The final word: Golly gee, we wonder why this editorial has been getting nothing but bad press.

The Haute Mess spread is one hot mess indeed for so many reasons- the all-around gross factor seems so obvious and crass- and many are complaining about the magazine’s really bad unethical taste on this one bordering on racism. Is it?

For more investigative reporting, we’ve added more pics below.

What’s your take?

This not the real end- it just seems to keep going downhill from here.

Please tell me that long toes nails are not going to become a thing. Yucky.

Yeah this editorial is just really gross. The magazine cover has “Over The Top” written across it and that couldn’t be more accurate.
