The Bay: Seeing Stripes

May 7, 2012

While many are a fan of the Hudson’s Bay Company striped blanket, this Canadian retailer offers customers much more than this iconic wool blanket.

Hudson’s Bay multistripe point blanket, $275

If you can believe it, the multistripe has been in production since it was first commissioned by HBC back in 1800. Since then the colourful blanket has been HBC’s most popular blanket to date. The bright stripes are easily identifiable as belonging to the history of HBC, and by extension of Canada. But of course, unless you’re experiencing a bit of cold weather right now, you may not have use for a woven wool blanket. So, instead, Hudson’s Bay has used their stripes for more seasonal items.

Panama Hat, $45

belt, $25

tote bag, $10

city tote, $50

umbrella, $35

children’s k-way jacket, $48 (variation available for men & women)

flip flops, $15

women’s cardigan, $150

men’s t-shirt, $40 (also available for women)

Swiss Army knife, $75

How would you like to show your HBC stripes this season?

I like the hat too! I’d sport the umbrella (not shown) and frankly, I also like the monochromatic grey stripe blankets they did, too. I love the cottagey feel.
