Ride over here

November 20, 2012

Betty Draper rocked the riding boot while riding (!) in Mad Men. Just because she has a horse and you don’t shouldn’t stop ya. Remember the tender moment when she offered her daughter a pair of ‘big girl’ riding boots? Ah-!  Image credit fashionsofthepast.com

I hate to be a foregone conclusion with the trend spotting but it goes without saying that the riding boot has a ubiquitous  presence this season. It seems this boot can do no wrong- it’s sexy with a mini and downright elegant with a legging.

Wear with a slim pencil pant and a tweed blazer and you look as good as Betty in the second season of Mad Men (pictured above).

Today I’m featuring a few styles that you really should consider if you haven’t gone here yet. The riding boot is a classic boot that elongates the silhouette and oozes quiet sophistication. It’s the ultimate flat boot and the season to wear these is now. I have a couple of pairs that I keep on rotation- one black, one brown, and they serve me very well.

I’ve got my riding boots on today! They’re from Urban Outfitters (last year) and are surprisingly well-made and extremely comfortable! Great options here Johanne!
