Oscars 2013: Sea of Sequins

February 25, 2013

Yes, I watched. And I was actually entertained by the fashion and the set design. I’m talking about the Academy Awards, of course. In terms of fashion, I was really attracted to the sea of glitter and sequins that came down the red carpet.

While these dresses are very Oscar-worthy, in the glitter-category of gowns, I was most drawn to the structured, art-deco-like looks that reminded me of beautiful architecture like the gorgeous Chrysler building in Manhattan. The beading on these dresses is just incredible! Kudos to the designers and to all the people who put so much work into making these stunners.

Did you watch? What were you drawn to? The glitter, the colour (see Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Garner and Jane Fonda), the pastels (see Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Zoe Saldana), the white (see Charlize Theron and Queen Latifah), or shades of blue (see Reese Witherspoon and Helen Hunt – in H&M!)
