Men hate wedges, what now

July 4, 2013
As the gal who just bought not one, but TWO pairs of wedges - the black and the bone colours- I'm mildly interested in this survey

As the gal who just bought not one, but TWO pairs of wedges – the black and the bone colours of Tsubo’s Tehina sandal- I’m yes,  interested in this wedge survey

Even if the results of a recent survey shows that nearly three-quarters of men hate wedges, we won’t stop wearing them. We kind of already suspected that, so it’s no real surprise and to us, they’re actually quite sexy.

The survey was issued by Couponcodes4u and polled 2,103 men, asking them to rank the “least attractive shoe trend”. We know that the men love femme fatale stilettos so obviously we weren’t expecting breaking news here. The fact that Uggs came in second place seals that yawn, and many women will agree to Crocs being high on the do-not list.

The numbers:

1. Wedge shoes — 71 percent

2. Uggs — 67 percent

3. Crocs — 63 percent

4. Platforms — 58 percent

5. Flip flops — 55 percent

6. Moccasins — 49 percent

7. Mary Janes — 42 percent

8. Ballet shoes — 37 percent

9. Kitten heels — 34 percent

10. Sneakers — 25 percent

As our fine friends over at The Cut said, so where would that leave the wedge sneaker?

Okay but there are a few shocking results that shouldn’t be glossed over. To wit: Platforms came in 4th place (what about disco!?) and moccasins (there’s an occasion for everything).

I find it impossible to imagine men responding that they hate the platform trend with this much gusto

I find it impossible to imagine that 58% of men responded that they hate the platform trend – just look at this fine sandal. I’m guessing that chances are pretty high that men don’t know what platforms are. Platform sandal, $99 on sale at Nine West

Ha ha…I thought this survey was kind of surprising. Why are men so anti-wedge? More so than crocs or uggs? Not sure if I trust these results…
