The Monday match

January 6, 2014

Why not start the week by playing with matches?

Today’s matchy-matchy goodness comes via 1970’s disco sensation the Bee Gees who certainly are tops in coordination, not to mention polyester power.

Have a great day!

Would you wear…

A 1970’s skunk fur coat?

Not for the faint of heart, but surely by now the smell is out.

Could be yours. Or mine. But I just can’t decide if I like skunk fur.

It’s for sale ($679) on Etsy. Go ahead and buy it.

I thought about buying $2,000 shoes

Not just any $2,000 shoes, but *these* crazy spaceship awesome shoes

When I was in New York for our thanksgiving weekend, I stayed in the coolest loft in Soho. And across the street is a shoe store with shoes in glass boxes in the windows and they looked like space ships.

The special edition shoe

The special edition Nova shoe comes in silver, rose gold and black

I thought I would come back to see these again and try them on.

So I did.

Wowza!

No really, they’re pretty fantastic

And you see how fun it was.

I mean, now you know that these aren’t your average-day, normal shoes.
This is the Nova shoe: a special-edition collaboration between United Nude’s Rem d Koolhaas and architect Zaha Hadid. You’ll recognize her style in the shoes instantly: she designs with a very liquid vision, very fluid and layered much like the Nova shoe:

A quick scan of architect Zaha Hadid's work reveals how the Nova shoe is so very her

I can’t tell you enough how much I’m crazy about these crazy shoes.

So instead I will let you watch the video of how these shoes are made and then you’ll be on your knees with me bowing in respect to the beauty and genius:

So the question is, Am I still thinking about buying $2,000 shoes?

Yes.

Currently coveting anything by Sam Edelman

I'm probably going to spring for these because they're pony haired-camo-print boots that are cooler than anything else I've seen out there this season

I’m probably going to spring for these because they’re pony haired-camo-print boots that are cooler than anything else I’ve seen out there this season and frankly, if you want a fun statement shoe, you should pony up for this, too

If perchance you were thinking to yourself that this fall you’d slip into some trendy footsies, I suggest going straight to Sam Edelman’s collection. The designer can do no wrong in my fashion books this season.

Many options for work-appropriate height that capitalizes on fall’s textures and prints.

Check it out for yourself: the western shoe-boot, lace-up army boots, ballet flats, printed booties, no-fuss riding boots, tassels and punk trim. It’s a happy fall season that continues with the mixed materials and colour blocking trends.

Note to ladies: we are seeing the above-ankle boot and I recommend wearing it with a cigarette pant or cuffed jeans at the boot seam. Will demonstrate.

Without a doubt my favourite label at the moment is Sam Edelman: I could easily work any piece of his footwear into my day

In Wayne Clark.

Yeow!

I daresay that the most dazzling dress of the evening was my Wayne Clark number. I (surprise) stood out in a sea of black
